How To Create Faux Hawk on Short Natural Hair – 3 Examples

Faux Hawk on Short Natural Hair

This style is edgy, bold and boosts a stylish confidence. Faux hawk means a false Mohawk, where you style your hair to look like a Mohawk without necessarily cutting your hair.

*But before we start remember not to wash your hair on the very day you are going to create the style. The dirtier it is, the more likely the hawk will cooperate. Let’s do the style already.

Example 1: Use Bobby Pins

All you need are 2 to 4 bobby pins. Grab the section of hair right near your ears, take it up just before your crown and secure with one or two bobby pins. Move to the next side of the ear and do the same. That’s it!

Example 2: Use Push Up Combs

The only difference here is you are going to use push up combs instead of bobby pins. Grab the section of hair right near your ears, take it up just before your crown and secure by pushing up that comb. Move to the next side of the ear and do the same. Well-done!

Example 3: Use Gel to Sleek and Bobby Pins To Secure

Lets get more dramatic with this one. We shall need a spray bottle with water, gel, brush, parting comb (rat tail comb) and, bobby pins.

Mist hair on the sides so it makes gel application easier. This will also ensure you don’t use too much gel. Now sleek the sides moving towards the crown but don’t sleek the hair on the crown dear. You may use a brush to make it easier.

Next, use your rat tail comb to part the middle of the hair on the sides (the hair that has just been sleeked). This is simply to add some character otherwise you may skip.
