How to Finger Coil 4C Natural Short Hair

Finger coiling from the roots gives short 4C hair a neater, longer-lasting curl pattern. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Prep your hair: Start with damp hair coated with your favorite curl cream or gel for slip and hold.
  2. Work in small sections: Short 4C hair responds best when you coil small, even pieces.
  3. Start at the roots: Place your finger at the base of the strand near the scalp.
  4. Choose your direction: Decide which way you want the coil to fall (upward, sideways, forward).
  5. Roll down the strand: Gently twist or roll the hair around your finger from the root toward the ends until it forms a coil.
  6. Release and let it set: Slide your finger out and allow the coil to spring into shape.

This root-to-tip technique creates neat, defined coils, reduces frizz, and helps short 4C hair stay styled longer. Check our products!
